Cookie Policy
Last updated: 1 September 2026
This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies (like local storage) that the Paya website and app use, why we use them, and how you can control them.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Local storage works similarly inside the app and browser. Both help a service remember you between visits — for example, keeping you signed in.
2. Essential storage
Paya uses essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in securely, to remember your session, and to protect the service against abuse. The app cannot work without these, and they cannot be switched off.
Your transaction PIN is never stored on your device in readable form.
3. Preferences
We may store small preferences — such as whether you have dismissed an introduction screen — so the app feels familiar when you return. These identify your device only, not you personally.
4. Analytics
We use privacy-respecting, aggregated analytics to understand which features are used and where the experience can be improved. The data is not used to identify you personally, and you can opt out at any time from your profile settings.
5. Third parties
Our payment partners may set limited cookies when processing a payment, to keep that transaction secure. We do not allow advertising networks to track you through the app.
6. Managing cookies
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings; the app’s essential storage is managed through your device settings. Blocking essential cookies will stop the app from working correctly.
Deleting cookies may sign you out and reset small preferences — none of your payment history is stored in cookies, so nothing is lost.
7. Changes
If we add or change how we use cookies, we will update this policy and its “last updated” date. Questions: support@paya.ng.
